Journal Policies

1. Archiving Policy

The Journal of Life Sciences and Biomedicine ensures the permanent availability and preservation of scholarly research through Internet Archive. The journal permits self-archiving of accepted and published papers in line with its open-access policy. Authors retain copyright of their work and may deposit pre-prints, post-prints, or the publisher’s version (PDF) in personal, institutional, or disciplinary repositories without prior permission.

2. Repository Policy

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY). Each article is assigned a DOI, providing a permanent and secure link even if the website URL changes. Authors are strongly encouraged to register and use an ORCID ID during submission.

3. Advertising Policy

Editorial decisions are fully independent of advertising and sponsorship. Acceptance of manuscripts is based solely on academic merit and is never influenced by financial interests.

  • Advertisements must clearly describe the product or service offered and identify the sponsor or manufacturer.
  • Authors must ensure compliance with legal regulations and ethical standards.
  • Advertisements for hazardous, injurious, or inappropriate products will not be accepted.
  • Articles whose primary purpose is advertising will not be considered.

4. Marketing Policy

All journal communications must be accurate, consistent, and professional. Marketing activities are reviewed and approved by the Editorial Office to ensure alignment with the mission of the journal.

5. Plagiarism Policy

All submissions are screened with Turnitin plagiarism detection software. In cases of plagiarism, the journal follows COPE guidelines. The journal fully complies with the standards of the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

6. Authorship Issues and Disputes

In cases of authorship disputes during review or after publication, the Editorial Office does not mediate. Authors are expected to resolve disputes independently. If unresolved, the Editorial Office may withdraw a manuscript from consideration or refer published cases to the relevant institution(s).

7. Copyright and License

All content is published under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY). Authors retain copyright and are free to reproduce, share, and distribute their work.

8. Author Name Change Policy

Requests for changes in authorship (addition, removal, or reordering) must meet journal authorship criteria. The corresponding author is responsible for securing co-author consent.

Covered changes include:

  • Authorship modifications (with justification and contribution evidence).
  • Post-publication authorship changes (addressed by a correction notice).
  • Author name change requests (e.g., gender identity, marriage, divorce, or religious conversion).

Display of changes:
To protect author privacy, no Erratum will be published unless explicitly requested. The article DOI remains unchanged. Updated PDF/XML files and metadata are redistributed to indexing services, although external platforms may not always update records.

Procedure:
Authors must submit a formal request listing relevant DOIs and whether co-authors should be notified. A proof of the updated version will be provided for approval before republishing.

Research Involving Vulnerable Populations

The Journal of Life Sciences and Biomedicine adheres to the ethical principles of the World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki. Special safeguards apply to research involving vulnerable populations, including:

  • Children and adolescents
  • Pregnant women
  • Individuals with physical or mental disabilities
  • Patients with life-threatening diseases
  • Socio-economically disadvantaged groups

Manuscripts must explicitly state:

  • The rationale for including such participants

  • Approval by an accredited institutional or national ethics committee
  • Measures taken to protect participants’ rights, dignity, safety, and well-being

Studies not meeting these requirements will not be accepted for publication.
